Galveston County Drainage District #2 located in Galveston County, Texas was created in 1910 under the Texas Constitution, Section 59 by vote of the people. The purpose to drain land and reclaim poorly drained areas in the District.
The District is governed by Chapter 49 and Chapter 56 of the Texas Water Code.
Galveston County Drainage District #2 jurisdiction includes; City of La Marque, and some areas in Texas City, Hitchcock, and Dickinson. The District has 14 Watersheds and over 80 miles of ditches.
The mission of the District is to reduce flooding and improve drainage within the boundaries by construction and maintenance of the ditches, channels, and bayous. The District works with the City of La Marque, City of Texas City, City of Hitchcock, and the City of Dickinson, County of Galveston, and developers to improve drainage.
